Tabriz rug and history
A large city 600 km west of Tehran in Azerbaijan province with Turkish dialect. The ethnicity called Azari, the largest ethnic minority in Iran. Tabriz rug has a short and rough pile. The Patterns have a central medallion surrounded by arabesques, weeping willows, and cypress. Also, it is a characteristic of Tabriz to include four seasons pattern in the rugs. In recent years Rugs include a fish in the middle as a medallion.
