Chinese rug and history:

China has a long history of original rug manufacturing as long as 2000 years ago. The art of knotting began in the 15th and 17th centuries. The older pattern was inspired by porcelain painters. Rugs made of silk. The wrap was threads of cotton with a rough pile of yarn and large knots which gave their old rugs a thick but soft texture. Provinces producing rugs are Kansu, Ningxia, Suiyan, and Inner Mongolia near the city of Baotou. These rugs are characterized by the landscape and symbolic motifs in a different shade of blue. In recent years a variety of floral patterns similar to Persian motifs and double wrap techniques of Iran Senneh has been made in cities of Beijing and Tianjin.
